i love halloween. the smell of bonfires and the cool crisp fall air. there’s a certain feeling to christmas with the food and all of the movies but halloween just has a good feeling to me. candy, house parties, and women in revealing outfits. halloween has an interesting history. the name itself is a corruption of “all hallow’s eve”, a catholic holiday centered around remembering the dead. all hallow’s eve is still celebrated around the world, most notably in mexico as “dia de los muertos”. but its history goes back further than that. the celtics celebrated the night as samhain. they believed it was when the barriers between this world and the other one were at their theageofmiraclesbook – ready for halloween since last halloween t-shirt weakest. little is known about their beliefs of certain, but it’s probably that the practice of going door to door in costume originated with them. when christianity came to the celtic people, their festivals were christianized. and so a pagan festival became a catholic holiday. but america is neither pagan nor cat.
